ADOC K-9 ARREST HOLMAN VISITOR ON CONTRABAND CHARGES
|
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On April 25, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Southern K-9 Unit stopped an attempt to smuggle contraband into Holman Correctional Facility.
During a search of visitor Horace Laster, K-9 officers discovered and confiscated a large amount of contraband he was attempting to bring inside. Laster was visiting inmate Akeem Prewitt, serving a 40-year sentence for Murder out of Tuscaloosa County. Laster was arrested, transported to the Escambia County Detention Facility, and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Fentanyl, Promoting Prison Contraband 1st, Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st, Prohibited Activities, and Attempt to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime.
Confiscated contraband:
• 35 buprenorphine strips
• 3 cell phones
• 1 SIM card
• Approximately 66 grams of marijuana
• Approximately 140 grams of methamphetamine
• Approximately 14 grams of fentanyl
