ADOC TERMINATES YESCARE CONTRACT, SIGNS ON WITH NAPHCARE FOR 24 MONTHS
|
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) has terminated its healthcare services contract with YesCare for failure to adequately fulfill its contractual duties. To ensure uninterrupted medical service, ADOC is working to execute an emergency agreement with NaphCare to provide inmate healthcare services. The official transition would be May 3, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. All parties have been working together to make sure the transition is seamless.
Officials from NaphCare have provided the comments below.
NaphCare is truly impressed by the dedication and commitment of the current YesCare team members who have been caring for patients across Alabama’s prisons. The work being done every day is not easy, and it matters. We’re excited to welcome these professionals to NaphCare. Our goal is straightforward: anyone currently employed and cleared by the Alabama Department of Corrections will have a job with NaphCare when we begin services on Sunday, May 3. We’re offering benefits starting on day one, along with a $1,000 bonus for eligible full-time and part-time employees (30+ hours) who complete the onboarding process. That bonus will be paid right after each employee is fully processed through our HR system.
We’re also grateful to the teams at the Alabama Department of Corrections and YesCare. A transition like this would normally take months—often three to nine. The fact that this is coming together in just nine days says a lot about the level of collaboration, professionalism, and commitment across everyone involved.
Our immediate focus is making sure this transition is smooth—for both patients and staff. Continuity of care is critical, and we’re committed to maintaining it from day one. Once we’re fully in place, we’ll begin working with the team to identify opportunities to strengthen and improve the healthcare operation over time.
At the end of the day, our responsibility is clear: deliver high-quality care and be strong advocates for the patients we serve. That includes working closely with state leaders to ensure the right support and resources are in place.
NaphCare has been doing this work for 37 years. We’re a family-owned, mission-driven company focused on improving and saving lives in correctional healthcare. Today, we support more than 500 correctional facilities across 49 states with a team of over 6,000 employees—and we’re proud to bring that experience and commitment to Alabama.
