Minimum-In: Work assignments for Minimum-In inmates must be on-property at a minimum, medium or close security facility and may be supervised
by non-security personnel with the express approval of the Warden/designee.
Minimum-Out: Minimum-Out inmates can be assigned to off-property work details without the direct supervision of correctional officers. Minimum-Out inmates will
generally be assigned to Community Work Centers (CWC), with higher security facilities only maintaining a small number for job assignments requiring minimal supervision.
Minimum-Community (Min-Comm): Inmates in this custody are allowed gainful employment in the community on a full-time basis and will be supervised in community based facilities when not working.
Medium:(security level four) correctional facilities are designed for housing inmates who have demonstrated less severe behavioral problems. Inmates are considered to be suitable for participation in formalized institutional treatment programs, work assignments, or other activities within the confines of an institution.

William C. Holman Correctional Facility opened in December 1969 and is located 10 miles north of Atmore, AL on Highway 21 on Ross Road. Holman is ADOC’s primary correctional facility for housing death row inmates and is the only facility in the state that carries out executions.
Additional housing of death row inmates is located at the William C. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, AL. The present population of Holman C. F. consists of minimum through closed custody inmates.
The facility’s industrial area consist of a tag plant where all of the state’s motor vehicle tags are manufactured and a sewing factory that produces sheets and pillow cases that are distributed to other state prisons. Holman offers inmates educational opportunities such as adult basic education and GED courses through the Jefferson Davis Community College. Holman is classified as a close custody correctional facility.
